A new method for real radiation at NNLO

چکیده
Abstract We propose a new method of computing real emission contributions to hard QCD processes. Our approach uses sector decomposition of the exclusive final-state phase space to enable extraction of all singularities of the real emission matrix elements before integration over any kinematic variable. The exact kinematics of the real emission process are preserved in all regions of phase space. Traditional approaches to extracting singularities from real emission matrix elements, such as phase space slicing and dipole subtraction, require both the determination of counterterms for double real emission amplitudes in singular kinematic limits and the integration of these contributions analytically to cancel the resulting singularities against virtual corrections. Our method addresses both of these issues. The implementation of constraints on the final-state phase space, including various jet algorithms, is simple using our approach. We illustrate our method using e+e− → jets at O(αS) as an example.

Infrared structure of e + e − → 3 jets at NNLO
We describe the calculation of the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD corrections to three-jet production and related event shape observables in electron-positron annihilation. Infrared singularities due to double real radiation at tree level and single real radiation at one loop are subtracted from the full QCD matrix elements using antenna functions, which are then integrated analytical...

The computation of exclusive QCD jet observables at higher orders requires a method for the subtraction of infrared singular configurations arising from multiple radiation of real partons. We present a subtraction scheme relevant for NNLO perturbative calculations in e+e− → jets. The building blocks of the scheme are antenna functions derived from the matrix elements for tree-level 1 → 3 and 1 ...

High-energy physics will begin to explore a new energy frontier when the Large Hadron Collider at CERN turns on in 2007. Our understanding of physics at very small distances will dramatically improve. However, a detailed investigation of the new physics we discover will require a careful study of Standard Model backgrounds, detector responses, and other similar issues. Since many layers separat...
متن کاملInfrared Structure of e + e − → 2 jets at NNLO
The production of two jets is the simplest exclusive quantum chromodynamics process in electron-positron annihilation. Using this process, we examine the structure of next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) corrections to jet production observables. We derive a subtraction formalism including double real radiation at tree level and single real radiation at one loop. For two-jet production, these s...

The present study deals with a new method for measuring the power of a reactor. This method uses gamma and neutron radiation resulted from the entire reactor structure, without changing its structure (online). In terms of functionality, this method can measure the reactor power in real-time and report it instantly. In order to obtain the relationship between reactor power and gamma and neutron ...
